Renowned British author, Alan Silitoe, who is one of the most representative writers of English literature of the second half of the 20th Century, once met with Hassel in Copenhagen, Denmark in the Sixties, as shown in the image below. Silitoe went on to describe the Sven Hassel series as follows: “Hassel’s books of war are the must powerful I have ever read”.
Alan Silitoe wrote The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner and Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, to simply name a few of his well-known literary pieces.
