The Sven Hassel novel THE LEGION OF THE DAMNED turns 70 years old this year is and still going strong!

This novel, which was Hassel’s first in a series of 14, was written during imprisonment after the war where he was bounced between different international prisoner camps. It was initially rejected by a total of 12 different publisher in Denmark, but was finally published in 1953. Four years later it was translated into English and from the on into many different languages, a total of 25 as of today.

The Legion of the Damned has been internationally awarded by critics and has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide. In today’s age, it is considered as one of the WWII classics. It has remained in print uninterruptedly since ’53 and is available for purchase on all major online platforms such as Amazon, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play, etc.
