I first came across these books as a child in the 1980s. My grandparents read them and the Corgi covers fascinated me. I've decided to read the 14 books, about half way into the Legion of the Damned. I'm not disappointed.

Hey Mr Hassel,Thanks for writing the books,people will never believe what war is,a lot dismiss your stories out of hand-they just can't fathom it.The Eastern Front especially WAS that bad,if not worse!The Old Man would definately be proud!

Each time I re-read one of your novels, it never ceases to astonish me. Having an uncle who was US infantry in EU (Battle of the Bulge too) and hearing his tales and having read your books, I can only begin to imagine what you both experienced. Thank you

Hello Sven, Like so many others I am again reading your books. I was a soldier for 30 years 9 of them in Germany with the British Army. My first Sven Hassel was in 1966, I feel that your gang were my mates and would have been proud to serve with them….p

I was introduced to mr. Hassels books by my father when I was around 12 I guess. Since then I got my own copies of the books (my ex-wife bought them for me for my birthday), and I´ve read all of them 6-7 times I guess. Just started over again this summer.

I have read all the books, wich published in Romanian language. It,s easy to read and you'll get a bit of sympathie for the German soldiers in this Battalion. Sven is a great author and therefor I recommend his books to the people I know.
