In the photo gallery there's two glaring errors. No 1. Sven on PIII in Donetz, Ukraine. The vehicle in the photo is a Sturmgeschütz IV. No 2. The tank labelled as a Panzer IV is actually a Panzer III.

I was a young soldier in the British Army based in Germany in the late 70s. We used to share Sven Hassel's books and would read them avidly on exercises, they were affectionately known as 'Training Manuals'!

I've read these books so often they've fallen apart! The characters are like old friends, I know each of them intimately. Terrible, terrible time for all involved but superb writing about one of mankind's darkest times.
