After having read all Sven's books multiple times – and listened to them all on audiobook two or three times each, I have to say the The Bloody Road to Death is my favorite. What do others have to say? What is your favorite? Granted, I enjoyed them all about equally. Legion of the Damned is special in its own way, as it was the first I read, and my introduction to Sven's world. And it's serious tone was searing and powerful. But for laughs and a good time, you have to enjoy the First Chapter of OGPU Prison ha ha. Cracks me up every time! Sam Deveraux narrates the audiobook of OGPU, and he brings life and a ton of color to the story adding a voice for each character. You can almost smell the booze on the Padre's breath as you listen to him act it out! I think I missed it, but how did Julius Heide end up with the "Murder & Arson" unit? It's mentioned several times over the course of the (latter) novels that he is the textbook, fanatical Nazi soldier. Regimentally correct and all that. At one point Hinka or Old 'Un call him the best soldier in the Regiment (or some larger unit). What did he do? I liked how Porta's crime was described early on in the books – he was banished to the penal company for "laughing"…
