I read Sven back in the 70's, and just found Reign of Hell here in Kabul. I then found his website, and am very impressed. He lived a good, long life. RIP.

I have read all 14 books and was hooked from day one.Just discovered that I can read them again through my Kindle. Sven knows the true horrors of war.I do hope the very last book can be written.Sven Hassel and all of us need closure. Best Wishes Sven.

I read a bunch of Sven Hassel books back in the 1960s when I was in the US Navy. I loved the writing, which was vivid, funny and sympathetic. I'm sorry to hear that Sven is now gone, the world is poorer for his passing. Rest in peace, sir!

I had great respect for Sven's books: my Granddad was a tank radio-operator (1939-1945)with 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters). He fought in all but the Eastern front. Sven's honesty helped fill the bit of the tank-mans life which granddad left
